Nigerian singer Burna Boy has made history with his ‘I Told Them’ tour, which has become the highest-grossing tour ever by an African artist.

According to tour monitoring platform data, the tour generated $30.5 million from the sale of 302,801 tickets across 22 shows held in Europe and North America.

The platform announced that the tour officially holds the record as the most successful Afrobeat tour in history, based on revenue and ticket sales.

As part of the same tour, Burna Boy also set another record with the highest-grossing single concert by an African artist. His performance at the London Stadium on June 29, 2024, earned $6.147 million from 58,973 tickets sold.

A breakdown of the tour figures shows that North America accounted for $15.19 million from 152,378 tickets sold across 16 shows. Europe generated $15.27 million from 150,423 tickets sold in six shows.

Despite Burna Boy’s historic achievement, the all-time record for the highest-grossing music tour remains with American singer Taylor Swift. Her ‘Eras’ tour grossed $2 billion over 149 shows during a 21-month run, doubling the previous record set by Elton John’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour.
