Kabiru Turaki, chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), says former President Goodluck Jonathan has pledged to play an active role in the affairs of the party.
Turaki disclosed this on Tuesday after a closed-door meeting with Jonathan in Abuja, describing the engagement as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the party.
According to him, the PDP leadership briefed the former president on the current state of the party, including its challenges and future prospects.
“We briefed him on the state of the party, the challenges, and the prospects. We, as usual, solicited his support, guidance, and advice,” Turaki said.
He added that Jonathan, a former leader of the party, expressed readiness to continue supporting the PDP and contributing to its stability and growth.
The meeting comes amid renewed efforts by the PDP leadership to rally key stakeholders as the party works to reposition itself ahead of future political contests.
