“Don’t Be Like Baba Mohbad” – Portable Accuses Father of Exploiting Him

Controversial street-pop singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has accused his father of neglect, manipulation, and exploiting his success for financial gain, while also issuing a strong warning against what he described as spiritual intimidation.

The singer made the allegations during an Instagram Live session on Tuesday, following renewed family tensions that recently escalated into a physical altercation between him and one of his baby mamas, an incident that went viral on social media.

Portable claimed his father consistently avoids him whenever he faces serious challenges such as police issues or marital disputes, but only resurfaces to seek money through his partners. According to him, rather than acting as a peacemaker, his father allegedly contacts his baby mamas to collect money, a situation he said has repeatedly caused problems in his personal life.

“Even my dad is only concerned with getting money from me. There is no time in the police station that you will ever come to my aid as your son. But you can collect the phone numbers of your son’s baby mamas and collect money from them,” Portable said.

He further questioned his father’s involvement in his private life, insisting that only his wife, Bewaji, should have a relationship with him.

“It’s only Bewaji, my only wife, that you’re supposed to know, but you chase after all of them for money. You will be sniffing around my family. You are with me, yet my life is scattered,” he said.

The “Zazoo Zehh” crooner also accused his father of financial dishonesty while handling his building project. He alleged that his father inflated the cost of building materials and took advantage of his trust.

“When I wanted to build a house, I told him to handle it. He was always cheating me. You quoted 300 blocks as 900 blocks. I wanted to roof a building for N1.4 million, but you called it N2.7 million,” he claimed.

Portable went further to accuse his father of abandoning him during childhood and resurfacing only after he became famous.

“You did not take care of me. You did not send me to school. You came into my life when I became famous,” he said, adding that his father showed no concern when his mother died.

In an emotional moment, Portable compared his situation to that of late singer Mohbad, warning his father not to repeat what he described as exploitation.

“You are just like Baba Mohbad. You have collected my shoes and clothes. But when there is war, you will be absent,” he said.

He insisted that his father would not inherit his wealth or properties, vowing to protect his assets and children.

“You can never inherit me. I will not allow you to do to me what they did to Mohbad. No one can inherit me. I will live long to take care of my kids and my properties,” he stated.

Portable also accused his father of manipulating spiritual narratives against family members, including his aunt, whom he credited for raising and supporting him after his mother’s death.

“My father blocked my aunt, who raised me, saying she used me for rituals. My dad chased her away,” he alleged.

Despite his anger, Portable praised his aunt, Alhaja, describing her as the person who stood by him during his lowest moments, including arrests and financial struggles.

“My aunt, Alhaja, used to stand for me when I got arrested at the police station. If not for her, I wouldn’t be here today,” he said.

He concluded by stating that although tradition suggests caring for one’s parents, his father was largely absent from his life and failed to support his family despite benefiting from his money.

“Whereas, I am not supposed even to take care of my father because he was not available when I was born. Yet, he won’t take care of my family and siblings from the money he got from me,” Portable added.
