Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has been arraigned before the Federal High Court in Ota, Ogun State, over alleged assault and car theft.
The singer was brought before the court on Monday to face a nine-count criminal charge. According to the Ogun State Police spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, the charges include assault, theft, causing harm, and resisting arrest.
The arraignment followed a viral video that surfaced on Sunday showing Portable in police custody. The arrest was reportedly linked to a complaint filed by his estranged partner, Ashabi Simple.
Prosecutors alleged that Portable assaulted Ashabi, several police officers, and other individuals at his bar in Iyana Ilogbo on New Year’s Day.
Other alleged victims named in the case include Ileyemi Damilola, Akinyanju Oluwabusayomi, Olowu Olumide, Demilade Ogunniyi, and Ebuka Odah.
Portable is also accused of stealing a Mercedes-Benz E300 valued at N12 million, which allegedly belongs to Ileyemi Damilola and was purchased from Wally Dex Auto.
It was further gathered that two siblings of Ashabi Simple appeared in court as witnesses to the alleged assault, although Ashabi herself was not present during the proceedings.
The police also accused the singer of obstructing and assaulting a female police officer, Inspector Ogungbe Olayemi, while she was carrying out her official duties.
During the hearing, the presiding judge declined Portable’s bail application, citing the absence of the allegedly assaulted police officer in court. The judge stated that the officer must be present before bail can be considered.
As a result, Portable was remanded in custody, while a fresh bail hearing was scheduled for January 19, 2026.
