Controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has welcomed a new child while still in prison custody.
The development comes just five days after the singer was remanded over a nine-count criminal charge. Portable was arraigned on Monday, January 12, 2026, before a Federal High Court in Ogun State. During the proceedings, the presiding judge refused to grant him bail, citing the absence of the police officer allegedly assaulted by the singer, who was expected to testify in court.
As a result, Portable was ordered to remain in custody, and the case was adjourned to January 19, 2026, for the hearing of his bail application.
Meanwhile, his first wife, Omobewaji, reportedly gave birth while the singer remains detained. According to sources who spoke with The Nation, the news of the baby’s arrival has already been conveyed to Portable in prison.
The singer was said to have received the news with excitement and expressed a strong desire to regain his freedom so he could see his newborn child for the first time.
Portable’s arrest followed a clash involving one of his other wives, Ashabi Simple, during which he allegedly assaulted a police officer—an incident that led to his current legal troubles.
