Nigerian singer Chidozie Godsfavour Ugochinyere, popularly known as Fave, has spoken out over an alleged directive stopping artistes from holding shows in Nigeria during the Islamic Ramadan period.

The “Baby Riddim” crooner explained that she had planned to host a show in Nigeria on March 13 to celebrate her birthday. However, she said the plan has been facing challenges because the date falls within Ramadan, a period when concerts are now allegedly not allowed.

Sharing her frustration on X, she wrote, “So I was tryna do a show in Nigeria on my birthday this year but they’re telling me shows aren’t allowed during Ramadan? I’m a little confused.”

In another post, Fave revealed that several promoters have turned down her proposal to organize the show for the same reason.

She said Ramadan practices should not affect her work, adding that she is a Christian and only learned about Ramadan traditions in her late teens.

She wrote, “I started this year wanting to do my first show in Nigeria on my birthday as an independent artiste and back to back, promoters kept sending word to my team saying the same thing.

“I grew up in the south and never heard of Ramadan practices till I was in my late teens. I respect all religions. But I’m Christian and I really want to do this on my birthday so if you’re reading this and are open to organize, I’d be so happy.”
