Nigerian actor Victor Udochukwu Nwaogu, popularly known as Nkubi, has revealed that he went into acting after being repeatedly denied regular jobs because of his physique.

He made this known while speaking about the stigma of being a little person on a recent episode of the One On One podcast, where he appeared alongside his wife.

Nkubi explained that as a child, he did not fully understand his condition, but he knew he was different from others. According to him, reality set in after he finished secondary school and began facing rejection during job searches.

“As a child you barely understand your reality but you knew you were different from every regular person.

“When the reality of being a little person first hit me was when I finished secondary school and I couldn’t secure minor jobs like others,” he stated.

He added that his daughter is already experiencing similar stigmatisation from internet trolls who make hurtful comments about her because of her size.

Nkubi, however, said he and his wife were aware of the possibility of having a child with dwarfism and were emotionally prepared for it.

His wife also shared that although they expected some level of stigma, it still hurts to see people bully their daughter without reason. She revealed that a doctor once advised her to get pregnant by another man to avoid having a child with dwarfism, but she refused.

The actor’s revelation has sparked conversations online about discrimination, acceptance, and the challenges faced by people living with dwarfism.
