Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has shared how she got her popular nickname, Omosexy.
She spoke about it during an interview on Naija FM, explaining how the name started and who gave it to her.
According to the actress, the nickname did not come from her fans or colleagues in the movie industry. She said it was her husband, Matthew Ekeinde, who gave her the name.
Omotola explained that her husband bought her a Lincoln Navigator as a gift at the time. He also customised the car’s plate number and wrote “Omosexy” on it.
That was how the name began. Over time, it became very popular among her fans and in the entertainment industry.
The interviewer asked: “The name Omosexy. Who give you that name? Na we give you that name? Abi na you give yourself that name. Or na your cofamily give you am?”
She replied: “Na my honey boy give me that name…e buy me one Lincoln Navigator that time..e put am for the plate number, you know, him write am there.”
Over the years, the name Omosexy has remained strongly connected to Omotola and has become an important part of her brand in Nollywood and beyond.*
