Nigerian streamer and skit maker Caterefe has recounted how his father, a policeman, was killed by armed robbers wearing military camouflage during a robbery incident many years ago in Ogun State.

He explained that his father had closed from duty and decided to enter a police van heading to the nearest bus stop to their home. However, on their way, they encountered a traffic gridlock caused by an ongoing robbery operation on the highway.

Unaware that the men dressed in military camouflage were robbers, his father and his colleagues reportedly stepped out of the vehicle to check what was happening. Upon noticing their police uniforms, the robbers opened fire.

Speaking on a recent episode of The Honest Bunch Podcast, Caterefe said:

“My dad had closed from duty and was heading home but he decided to enter the police van to the nearest bus stop to our house. We were staying in Ogun State then.

“However, they ran into a gridlock and some men in military camouflage were robbing. My dad and his colleagues alighted from the van to check what was going on, but immediately the robbers spotted them in police uniform, they opened fire on them. I saw my dad’s body on the ground in his police uniform.”

He added that the experience has shaped his resilience.

“I am not a stranger to pain. I have gone through a lot of pain. So, there is no pain that will make me stop my grind.”
