In a surprise development, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has resigned as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing health reasons.
The former Governor of Kano State announced his decision with immediate effect, stating that he needs to prioritise his personal well-being.
Ganduje, who assumed the party’s top leadership role in 2023, thanked party members and leaders for their support during his tenure and expressed hope for the continued unity and strength of the APC.
The ruling party is expected to name an acting chairman pending further consultations. Ganduje’s resignation comes amid growing political shifts within the APC ahead of key electoral cycles.
