Nigerian social media personality VeryDarkMan has raised concerns about his safety following a public apology from socialite King Mitchy.
The activist suggested that Mitchy’s apology may be a “decoy” intended to mislead the public. Earlier, King Mitchy had addressed VeryDarkMan directly, acknowledging his advocacy and expressing regret for previously confronting him.
She said: “To VeryDarkMan, my brother, I see what you’re fighting for, you’re fighting for Nigeria and we can make Nigeria a better place. I’m sorry for coming at you like that. Maybe now I understand you better.”
She also added that the activist needs more supporters rather than critics in his fight for a better Nigeria.
Reacting to the apology, VeryDarkMan took to his Instagram page on Sunday to claim that the apology might have deeper implications.
He said: “This apology from King Mitchy cannot just come from nowhere. During that period, Lege Miami made a direct video about me, but later deleted it, claiming he received calls from above. Her apology has now pointed me in the right direction.”
VeryDarkMan further alleged that he has been specifically targeted and warned that certain individuals should be held responsible if anything happens to him.
“If anything happens to me, hold Mitchy and Seyi Tinubu responsible. Hold them responsible, because you see this thing now, it looks like a decoy to me. It looks like something is coming for me, and they told her to go and make this apology so that she will clear the air,” he said.
He also claimed that messages meant to intimidate him were sent through people who know him during the dispute.
“Do you understand there’s something during that time when this whole thing happened, Mitchy was sending messages to people that know me, and those messages were sent to me. When Seyi Tinubu came out to address the situation on Instagram, he failed to talk about that part. Now Mitchy has come out to apologize what I call a decoy. She also failed to talk about that part, and this is the part because I’m still scared for my life,” he added.
VeryDarkMan also warned that any attempt to frame him for criminal activity should be questioned.
“If you hear they see drugs or Igbo inside my car or inside my brother or anybody, na them set me up. If you hear say I do fraud, money laundry, anybody send me money, na them set me up. If you hear say I carry firearm or they say there’s pistol in my car, na them set me up,” he stated.
