Veteran Nollywood actress Shaffy Bello has opened up about a major personal decision she made regarding childbirth.
The actress revealed that she underwent a medical procedure to stop having more children, explaining that she made the choice about 26 years ago.
She made this known during a conversation about motherhood on her YouTube channel, Shaffy Bello TV.
According to her, she decided to tie her fallopian tubes because she did not want to have many children, even though her former husband wanted them to expand their family.
She said: “My ex-husband had to beg for me to have another one. I didn’t want a lot of children. I wanted to stop.”
Bello explained that the procedure was carried out through her navel and involved doctors tying her fallopian tubes, which permanently prevents pregnancy.
She added: “So they went through my navel, went in there, did what they needed to do, and they tied it up. That was it. They closed my eggs.”
The actress noted that she had always been certain about the family size she wanted and did not feel the need to have more children.
She further said: “I’ve always said to myself that after tying my tubes, if I get pregnant, I will feel like Mary, it’s a holy child.”
