Lionel Messi has shared an emotional statement following Inter Miami’s exit from the Club World Cup, after a defeat to the reigning UEFA Champions League winners.
“Today the Club World Cup comes to an end for us,” Messi said. “We’re proud to have reached the top 16, which was our goal.”
The Argentine star also expressed joy at reuniting with familiar faces on the opposing team, saying it “made me happy to see them again.”
With the tournament over, Messi says his focus now shifts to the MLS and upcoming challenges with Inter Miami.
