The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has alleged that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is making moves to disrupt its planned opposition summit holding in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, made the claim in a post on X on Saturday, stating that intelligence available to the party suggested efforts to frustrate the gathering scheduled for April 25.
He said the opposition had been facing repeated challenges in organising political meetings, claiming that similar issues previously affected its activities in Abuja.
According to him, “We have uncovered plans by the ruling APC to disrupt the summit being held by the opposition parties in Ibadan.”
He further stated that the party would not be intimidated or forced to cancel its plans despite the alleged pressure.
“After denying us the use of venues in Abuja, they now will not leave us alone to hold our meetings,” he said, adding that “they say they are not scared, but they are behaving like people who are terrified.”
Abdullahi insisted that the ADC and its partners remain committed to the summit, describing it as part of efforts to engage Nigerians and strengthen opposition unity ahead of the 2027 elections.
He also recalled that similar concerns were raised during a previous ADC convention in Abuja, where he alleged there were last-minute attempts to stop the event.
The ruling APC has not officially responded to the latest allegations at the time of filing this report.
