ADC Crisis: Bala Never Resigned — Abejide

A member of the House of Representatives under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Leke Abejide, has insisted that Nafiu Bala remains the rightful National Chairman of the party.

Abejide made this statement while speaking to journalists during a protest organised by supporters of the Bala-led faction in Abuja. He also urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to officially recognise Bala.

According to him, Bala is the only member of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) who did not resign, despite claims from other members.

“Nwosu who resigned did so without notice. There was no meeting. This new national chairman they are seeing behind me was the only party National Executive Committee member who did not resign.

“Though they are forging everything around saying that he resigned but I am aware he did not resign.

“We expected INEC to have done the honourable thing by putting his name as the authentic National Chairman.

“Nafiu Bala was the only party executive who did not resign. INEC should do the honourable thing by putting his name as the authentic National Chairman of the ADC, nothing more,” he said.

The protest started early Thursday as supporters of Bala marched through Abuja, warning opposition figures like Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and David Mark to stay away from the party.

Bala, who led the protest, accused these politicians of trying to take control of the ADC. Abejide and other supporters also joined him.

This development came just a day after another protest by a rival faction led by David Mark at the INEC office, which was attended by several top politicians, including Rotimi Amaechi.
