The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has introduced a free online membership registration platform across Nigeria as part of its preparations for the 2027 general elections.
This development was disclosed in a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi. He explained that the initiative forms part of the party’s ongoing membership registration and revalidation exercise, which began last month in Abuja.
According to the party, the digital system is designed to comply with provisions of the Electoral Act 2026 that require political parties to maintain updated digital membership records.
The ADC stressed that only members whose details are fully captured and verified on its official digital database will be allowed to participate in party primaries, either as voters or aspirants. It also confirmed that manual registration will continue alongside the online process nationwide.
“The new digital registration platform, accessible via www.adcregistration.ng is designed to enable the party meet the requirements of the new Electoral Act 2026, regarding digital membership register,” the statement reads.
“Accordingly, only individuals whose membership details are fully captured and verified in the Party’s official digital register will be eligible to vote or be voted for in the Party’s primaries.”
The party noted that it has witnessed growing interest from Nigerians both within the country and abroad since it began its grassroots membership drive in February.
“Introduction of the free online option is designed to remove barriers to entry, simplify enrolment, and ensure that every eligible Nigerian who wishes to identify with the ADC can do so seamlessly and securely,” the party said.
ADC further directed individuals who registered through its previous platform to update their information on the new portal to meet legal and regulatory requirements set by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
It also encouraged support groups and associations to complete their registration through the digital platform.
The party maintained that the exercise does not affect its reservations about certain provisions of the Electoral Act 2026 and the election timetable released by INEC.
“African Democratic Congress remains committed to building a modern, inclusive, and citizen-driven political movement capable of delivering credible leadership and a better Nigeria that works for all,” the party said.
Meanwhile, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had, on February 18, signed the amendment to the Electoral Act into law after its passage by the National Assembly.
Under Section 77(2) of the law, political parties must submit a complete digital register of their members to INEC at least 21 days before their primaries.
The register is required to include personal details such as name, gender, date of birth, address, state, local government area, ward, polling unit, national identity number, and photographs of members in both physical and electronic formats.
