Yakubu Dada, who was kidnapped along with his youngest wife, Lami, on October 31, 2024, has regained his freedom from bandits.

The couple was abducted along the Kontagora Road in Niger State, a region that has witnessed repeated attacks by armed groups in recent years. While Lami was earlier released in January after weeks in captivity, Yakubu remained in the kidnappers’ den for over seven months.

Family sources confirmed that Yakubu was released over the weekend. Details of the circumstances surrounding his release remain unclear, but the family has expressed deep relief and gratitude for his safe return.

Security agencies have yet to officially comment on the incident, but the case adds to the growing list of abductions plaguing the North Central region.

The community continues to call for stronger action against the rising tide of insecurity.
