A Nigerian man living in the United Kingdom, Ademola Oke, has been found dead at his place of work, marking the third such incident involving Nigerians in the country this month.

His family has appealed for financial support following the sudden loss.

Details of the incident were shared on Sunday through a GoFundMe appeal created by a family friend, Adejonwo Odutola. The post indicated that the incident occurred on April 18.

According to Odutola, Oke left his home that morning in good condition and kept in touch with his wife throughout the day. There was no sign that anything was wrong with his health.

He explained that Oke was later discovered unresponsive at his workplace by a colleague who resumed duty for a night shift.

Odutola wrote, “On 18th April, 2026, Ademola, 37 years old, left home in the morning hale and hearty, with no signs of illness. He was in contact with his wife during the day, and they even shared a WhatsApp message at 2:08 pm—everything seemed normal.

“Tragically and without warning, Ademola passed away suddenly while at work. Later in the day, a colleague arriving for their shift at night in the service user’s house found him seated on a sofa, unresponsive.”

He added that emergency responders were called immediately, but Oke was pronounced dead at the scene.

Odutola said the loss has left the deceased’s 31-year-old wife devastated, as she now bears the responsibility of caring for their two young children, aged six and two.

He described Oke as a caring husband and committed father. He noted that the death has deeply affected his family and those close to him.

The fundraiser, he said, aims to cover burial expenses and provide support for the children as the family adjusts to life without him.

“This cause is deeply important to me because I have seen firsthand the love within this family and the profound impact this loss has had on them. No family should have to endure such heartbreak while also facing financial uncertainty.

“The funds raised will go towards funeral expenses and ongoing support for the children as the family begins to navigate life without their husband and father,” he added.

The appeal also encouraged members of the public, especially Nigerians in the UK, to contribute or share the campaign with others.

As of the time this report was filed, £4,509 had been raised out of a target of £8,000.

The incident is the third reported case of a Nigerian dying in the United Kingdom in April. Earlier reports indicated that a Nigerian mother of three died of cancer, while another man identified as Herbert was found dead in his apartment in Thornaby.
