Arise TV anchor Rufai Oseni has challenged the Inspector General of Police (IGP), saying he does not believe the police chief has the courage to reduce the heavy security attached to Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu.
His comments came while reacting to Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka’s criticism of what he described as a “battalion” of security operatives assigned to Seyi. At a public forum on Tuesday, December 9, Soyinka recounted how an entire road was shut down for Seyi Tinubu’s convoy, leaving other motorists waiting—including himself.
Discussing the issue on Arise TV the following morning, Rufai Oseni insisted that no one, not even the IGP, has the authority or willpower to tamper with Seyi’s security arrangement.
According to Rufai:
“Them nor born anybody to remove the police protection of Seyi Tinubu.”
His colleague, Reuben Abati, asked, “Not even the Inspector General of Police?”
Rufai replied:
“Them nor born am well. Them nor born am well! You think I am joking! You will see.”
The exchange has sparked online reactions, with many Nigerians weighing in on the issue of excessive security privileges accorded to political office holders’ children.
