Arsenal Handed Big Boost As Bayern Munich Star Ruled Out Of Champions League Clash

Arsenal have been given a boost ahead of their next Champions League game against Bayern Munich.

The Gunners host their familiar foes at the Emirates Stadium on matchday five of the competition at the end of November.

Mikel Arteta’s side remain perfect on the continent, taking four wins from their opening four games, and they have not conceded a goal yet.

Arsenal overcome Gyokeres’ absence – and does defensive resilience make them CL contenders?

Last time out, they swept past Slavia Prague 3-0 at the Fortuna Arena, with makeshift striker Mikel Merino notching a brace in Viktor Gyokeres’ absence.

Bayern, meanwhile, beat holders Paris Saint-Germain in their last game, edging out the Ligue 1 outfit 2-1 at the Parc des Princes thanks to Luis Diaz’s double.

However, it was not the perfect day for the former Liverpool forward, who was sent off in first-half stoppage time for a challenge on Achraf Hakimi, which saw the right-back leave the pitch in tears after jarring his left ankle.

As such, it means that the Bundesliga champions will be without their star left winger for their trip to the capital on November 26.

Arsenal, on the other hand, will be hoping to have some key players of their own back, with Gyokeres awaiting results of a scan on his hamstring, while Martin Zubimendi was also taken off early in the win at Burnley.
