Armed bandits led by a notorious kingpin, Kachalla Bello, popularly known as Dansadiya, have reportedly killed dozens of captives in Zamfara State, deepening the region’s humanitarian crisis.
The victims were among over 80 residents abducted during recent attacks on Yamutsawa and Banga villages in Kauran Namoda Local Government Area. Survivors and local residents confirmed that at least 50 people may have been killed, with only 18 of the 50 abducted from Banga returning alive.
Among the dead were **three infants born in captivity** to women held for weeks by the armed group. In Yamutsawa, 20 out of the 33 abducted residents also died while in captivity.
The victims were mostly youths aged between 17 and 20, with just four adult men and four women among them. The tragedy has sparked renewed calls for urgent security intervention in Zamfara, where communities remain under siege from criminal gangs.
Authorities are yet to issue an official statement as of press time.
