Tragedy struck in Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State on Tuesday after suspected bandits launched a deadly attack on several villages, killing a pregnant woman and others.
Residents confirmed that at least eight people were abducted during the raid, while many others sustained various degrees of injuries.
Eyewitnesses described the attack as “terrifying,” saying the gunmen stormed the area in large numbers, shooting sporadically and causing panic among villagers.
“They came late in the evening, targeting our homes. A pregnant woman was killed instantly, and several others died before help could come,” a local source told reporters.
Security agencies have yet to issue an official statement as of the time of filing this report, but residents say the situation has left the community in fear, with many families fleeing their homes.
The incident adds to the growing wave of insecurity in parts of northern Nigeria, where rural communities continue to suffer devastating losses from frequent bandit attacks.
