Beware of Fake Loan Portal, NELFUND Warns Students
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has issued a warning to students and the general public about a fake student loan portal circulating online.

According to the agency, a fraudulent message is being shared on social media claiming that the Student Loan Registration Portal is open. The message directs users to a third-party link — a link NELFUND confirmed is unauthorised and completely fake.

In a statement posted on its official X account on Tuesday, NELFUND urged students not to click the link or submit any personal details. The Fund stressed that the only genuine student loan portal can be accessed through its verified website and official communication channels.

NELFUND advised applicants to be cautious and report any suspicious links or messages pretending to be from the agency. It reminded the public that all official updates will always be shared through its website and legitimate social media pages.

The warning comes as part of NELFUND’s continued efforts to protect students and maintain the integrity of the student loan application process.
