President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sworn in retired General Christopher Musa as the new Minister of Defence.

The ceremony took place on Thursday at the State House, Abuja, a day after the Senate confirmed Musa following an intense five-hour screening session.

Musa, a former Chief of Defence Staff, faced tough questioning over Nigeria’s escalating security challenges. Lawmakers pressed him particularly on the withdrawal of troops from Government Comprehensive Girls Secondary School, Maga, Kebbi State—just before the November 17 abduction of schoolgirls.

He assured the Senate that he would launch a full-scale investigation into the incident immediately upon assuming office.

Musa also pledged to probe the killing of Brigade Commander Brig-Gen. Musa Uba in Borno State, alongside other targeted attacks on senior military officers across the country.
