The body of former President Muhammadu Buhari has arrived in Nigeria. The remains touched down at Umaru Musa Yar’adua International Airport in Katsina at exactly 2:59 p.m. on Tuesday.

The late president’s body was flown in from the United Kingdom accompanied by Vice President Kashim Shettima and President Bola Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila.

A somber atmosphere surrounded the tarmac as dignitaries, family members, military personnel, and government officials gathered to receive the former leader, who served as Nigeria’s president from 2015 to 2023.

Security was tight around the airport as the motorcade conveying the body departed for Daura, Buhari’s hometown, where final burial arrangements are expected to take place in accordance with Islamic rites.
