No fewer than 58 people have died following a fresh outbreak of cholera in Bauchi State.
The state government confirmed that the disease has spread across 14 of the 20 local government areas, with 258 new cases recorded.
Health officials say surveillance and emergency response teams have been deployed to the affected areas to contain the spread. They also urged residents to maintain proper hygiene, ensure access to clean water, and seek immediate medical attention if symptoms occur.
Bauchi, like many northern states, has battled recurring cholera outbreaks in recent years, often linked to poor sanitation and unsafe drinking water.
