The member representing Kaduna North at the House of Representatives and son of former governor Nasir El-Rufai, Honourable Bello El-Rufai, has confirmed that his father has been granted bail and will soon return home.
The former governor is being prosecuted by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Crimes Commission (ICPC) on allegations bordering around corruption and abuse of office which he has a pleaded not guilty.
Confirming the latest development to journalist, Bello said: “We are happy that Malam has been granted bail. The bail conditions will be met because we believe in the rule of law.”
A political ally of the former governor, Hayatudeen Lawal Makarfi, also confirmed the bail ruling saying some conditions are attached to it which he expressed optimism that they will soon be met.
