Nigerian actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has shared key lessons on success, stressing that self-discovery is the foundation of personal and professional growth.
Speaking after her program, The Creative Blueprint, Akindele encouraged young creatives to focus on developing themselves from within rather than relying only on talent.
She explained that success starts with understanding who you are before seeking recognition or fame.
“Still thinking about that moment on stage. As I shared my journey, one thing stood clear to me: everything begins from within. Self-discovery is the first step. Before the spotlight, before the recognition, before the success, you have to know you,” she said.
Akindele also emphasized that talent alone is not enough to succeed, noting that growth must be intentional.
“I spoke about how talent is never enough. Growth has to be intentional. Reinvention is necessary. And evolving is the only way to truly stand out and last,” she added.
She revealed that she has had to rediscover herself at different stages of her career and is still evolving.
“I’ve had to rediscover myself at different stages of my life and career, and I’m still evolving,” she said.
Encouraging young creatives, she urged them to stay committed to growth and not be afraid of change.
“To every young creative in that room, your journey is yours to define. Do the work within, stay committed to growth, and never be afraid to evolve,” she advised.
She concluded by stressing that self-awareness is key to becoming unstoppable.
“The more you understand who you are, the more unstoppable you become,” she said.
