The Federal Government has disclosed the precise locations targeted in recent United States military strikes against Islamic State (ISIS) elements, confirming that debris from the operations fell in parts of Sokoto and Kwara states.

In a statement issued Friday, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, said the precision strikes were carried out between 00:12 and 01:30 hours on 26 December 2025 with explicit approval from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

According to the government, the joint Nigeria–US operation used 16 GPS-guided munitions deployed from MQ-9 Reaper unmanned aerial platforms against two Islamic State camps in the Bauni forest axis of Tangaza Local Government Area, Sokoto State.

The government confirmed that debris from expended munitions landed in Jabo, Sokoto State, and Offa, Kwara State, near a hotel, but assured the public that no civilian casualties were recorded and that authorities swiftly secured the affected areas.

Minister Idris said intelligence showed that the targeted sites were being used by foreign ISIS elements infiltrating Nigeria from the Sahel region, in collaboration with local affiliates. He reiterated the federal government’s commitment to confronting and eliminating terrorist threats in partnership with strategic allies.
