Pastor Foluke Adeboye has revealed how she made a major personal sacrifice after giving her life to Christ, including throwing away all her gold jewelry.

In a resurfaced throwback video now circulating online, she spoke about how her lifestyle changed in the early days of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), where certain fashion items like jewelry were discouraged.

According to her, before becoming born again, she loved fashion and owned several gold items, including pieces she had already kept for her young child, who was less than two years old at the time.

“Every woman loves fashion,” she said. “By the time we became born again, it was a taboo for you to have them.”

She explained that instead of keeping or selling the valuables, she decided to get rid of them completely by throwing them into a lagoon.

Folu recalled that a family friend questioned her decision and suggested she could have given the items to her mother to sell, but she refused.

“Whatever is not good for me is not good for my mother,” she said.

She also revealed that after giving up gold, she briefly switched to using copper accessories and spent a considerable amount on them at the time.

Despite the sacrifice, she said she has no regrets about her decision.

“What would I say I miss? Not much, I have already sold myself,” she added.
