A fresh wave of controversy has hit the historic Zazzau Emirate as the Kaduna State House of Assembly has officially received a petition seeking the removal of Emir Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli.
The petition, submitted by concerned stakeholders in the emirate, alleges irregularities in the Emir’s selection process and accuses him of disregarding traditional procedures and favoritism in palace affairs.
Sources say the petition is already generating tension within Zaria and among ruling houses in the emirate, rekindling divisions that followed Bamalli’s appointment in 2020 — the first from the Mallawa dynasty in over 100 years.
Community Reactions:
* Some traditional title holders and royal family members are reportedly backing the move.
* Others warn that removing the emir could spark unrest anddestabilize the emirate.
A palace source described the situation as “sensitive and deeply political,” urging the state government to tread carefully.
The Kaduna Assembly has not made an official statement, but insiders confirm that the matter has been listed for deliberation in coming weeks.
