Meet Abdulkadir Hamza, a young water vendor — or *mai ruwa* — who has turned heads not just for his hustle on the streets of Anyigba, Kogi State, but for his resilience and dreams beyond the wheelbarrow.
Originally from Kano, Abdulkadir has been selling water to make ends meet, determined not to let his current situation define his future. In 2023, he applied to study at Bayero University, Kano, but didn’t get admitted.
This year, everything changed.
Abdulkadir earned a scholarship to study at the prestigious Al-Azhar University in Cairo, Egypt. With all documents in place, he’s set to board a plane this month — a powerful leap from pushing a wheelbarrow to pursuing higher education abroad.
His story is a reminder that no dream is too far when you keep moving forward.
