The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State has officially welcomed back former Deputy Governor, Eze Madumere, and former House of Assembly member, Uche Ogbuagu, along with their supporters.
They were received at the party’s secretariat in Owerri by members of the National Working Committee led by Abdulrahman Mohammed, who described the event as a major turning point for the party in the state.
According to him, the return of prominent political figures shows that the PDP remains strong and ready to compete in future elections.
He said the party has resolved most of its internal issues and urged the new members to contribute to its growth and stability.
The National Secretary of the PDP, Samuel Anyanwu, also said the development proves that the party is still active and relevant despite claims that it is no longer strong.
He said:
“Today is very significant in our political journey… Before now people are saying that PDP is dead but today what happened here showed that the party is fully alive.”
He added that the party is working towards winning future elections at both state and national levels.
Earlier, the Imo State PDP Chairman, Austin Nwachukwu, said the party is celebrating both the visit of national leaders and the return of members.
He admitted that the party recently faced internal challenges but said they have now been resolved through the efforts of key leaders, including Nyesom Wike.
Nwachukwu assured the returning members that they would be treated equally and encouraged them to see the PDP as their political home.
In their separate remarks, the returning members pledged loyalty to the party leadership and promised to follow its constitution and work for its success.
