In a significant breakthrough, all the female students abducted from Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School (GGCSS) Maga in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State have regained their freedom.
PRNigeria reports that the rescue was achieved through a non-kinetic strategy adopted by the Federal Government, marking a continued shift toward negotiation-driven solutions in addressing mass abductions.
According to the report, the release followed coordinated efforts by the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) and the Department of State Services (DSS), who jointly engaged in dialogue-led interventions to secure the safe return of the schoolgirls.
The non-kinetic approach—centred on negotiation, dialogue, and confidence-building rather than military confrontation—has increasingly become a preferred tool for managing security crises involving vulnerable groups.
Authorities are expected to provide further updates, including medical assessments and plans for reintegration of the rescued students, in the coming hours.
