Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has confirmed that all 38 worshippers abducted from Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Eruku, in Ekiti Local Government Area have regained their freedom.
The victims were kidnapped during an attack on the church last week and were released on Sunday after days of coordinated rescue efforts involving multiple security agencies and federal authorities.
In a statement from his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, the governor said President Bola Tinubu ordered intensified security operations in response to the incidents in Kwara and Kebbi States. This included deploying additional tactical units to the affected areas.
AbdulRazaq expressed gratitude to the Office of the National Security Adviser, the DSS, the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Intelligence Agency, and the police for their roles in securing the victims’ release. He also thanked community leaders and residents for their cooperation throughout the ordeal.
Security agencies have not yet provided details on how the rescue was carried out or whether any suspects were arrested.
