There was mild drama at the Gombe Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Monday, June 2, 2025, when a middle-aged man voluntarily walked into the premises and confessed to a long-running employment scam.

The man, identified as Idris Adamu, arrived at the EFCC office around 1:00 p.m. and requested to see the Acting Zonal Director, Deputy Commander of the EFCC, DCE Sa’ad Hanafi Sa’ad.

According to officials, Adamu confessed to defrauding multiple individuals of a total of ₦9 million by falsely promising them jobs in federal government agencies. “I came to repent of my sins and confess to the EFCC,” he said during the meeting with the director. “I’m afraid of the EFCC and I want to make things right.”

Following his confession, DCE Sa’ad thanked him for stepping forward but ordered that he be transferred to the investigation department for a thorough inquiry.

The EFCC has since commenced investigations into his claims.
