In the dead of night, chaos erupted in a Kaduna suburb as soldiers believed to be from the old Nigeria Defence Academy (NDA) launched a house demolition operation.
Around 12 midnight, they stormed the area from the Abakpa axis, advancing toward Kurmin Mashi. Their target? Homes built close to the high perimeter fence of the old NDA.
Armed with guns and iron rods, the soldiers pulled down structures manually, leaving destruction in their wake. By 4 a.m., the operation was still ongoing.
Dozens of families were thrown into sudden homelessness, forced to flee with whatever belongings they could grab under the cover of darkness.
No official statement has been issued yet, and residents are demanding answers.
