Former Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has dismissed a viral report claiming he resigned because he “could not stand and watch the U.S. and the Tinubu administration bomb our brothers in the forest.”
In a statement released on Wednesday, Badaru said the publication was completely false, malicious, and intended to twist the real reasons behind his resignation. He stressed that he never made such a statement, nor did anyone authorized to speak on his behalf.
According to him, the fabricated report was created to damage his reputation, create tension between him and President Bola Tinubu, and stir unnecessary controversy. Badaru maintained that the actual reasons for his resignation were formally communicated to the President and have already been made public through official government channels.
He reaffirmed his commitment to Nigeria’s peace and stability and expressed continued support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 elections.
Badaru urged Nigerians to disregard the viral publication, describing it as the handiwork of mischief makers seeking to mislead the public.
