The Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd), has commended the agency’s operatives for intensifying the fight against drug abuse and trafficking under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
Speaking at an award ceremony on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, in Abuja, Marwa revealed that in the past 30 months, the NDLEA recorded 45,853 arrests, seizures of over 8.5 million kilograms of illicit drugs, and 9,263 convictions. He added that 26,613 drug users were counselled and rehabilitated, while 9,848 sensitisation activities were carried out nationwide.
Marwa presented commendation letters and awards to 220 personnel for exceptional performance and decorated 15 senior officers with new ranks. He emphasized the importance of maintaining integrity and discipline in combating drug crimes, describing the menace as a “direct threat to Nigeria’s social fabric, economy, and security.”
He also appreciated local and international partners, including the UNODC, INL, UK Border Force, and the governments of France and Germany, for their continued support.
