Popular Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has reportedly been arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force Cybercrime Centre over an alleged cybercrime case said to involve fellow actress Mercy Johnson.
The arrest was made public by Nigerian filmmaker Seun Oloketuyi on his Instagram page. According to the report, Angela was picked up from her residence in Lagos by security operatives.
Following her arrest, she was taken to the police facility in Yaba, popularly known as Panti, where she reportedly spent the night because there was no available flight to Abuja at the time. She was later said to have been placed on an early morning flight to the Federal Capital Territory, where she is expected to appear in court in connection with the case.
The development follows years of public tension between Angela Okorie and Mercy Johnson. Both actresses have had repeated online clashes, exchanging accusations and counter-accusations on social media.
At different times, Angela had spoken about feeling deeply hurt and reacting from a place of emotional pain. She previously admitted that some of her past comments were made out of anger and personal struggles, adding that she had reflected on her actions and expressed regret over how events unfolded.
Despite that, the conflict resurfaced online, with Angela making further statements about Mercy Johnson, including personal and spiritual allegations.
The alleged cybercrime case is believed to be linked to those online exchanges, which reportedly attracted the attention of law enforcement authorities.
