Nigerian rapper and singer Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, has raised concerns about what he described as widespread cultism within the Nigerian music industry.
Speaking about the issue, the controversial artiste claimed that only a small number of Nigerian musicians, including himself, have not joined cult groups.
He criticised those who allegedly joined cults in search of power, influence, or protection, suggesting that such affiliations do not guarantee safety.
Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) account, Naira Marley wrote, “We no reach 5 weh never join cult for this industry. Person weh put u for cult self dey carry police escort up and down.”
His statement implies that even individuals who introduce others into cult groups still rely on official security protection, which he appeared to find ironic.
Naira Marley has in the past denied being a cultist. He previously claimed that he was once threatened by cult members because he refused to join them.
