The Presidency has given details on how the remaining schoolchildren abducted in Niger State were rescued.

On Sunday, the government announced that the remaining 130 pupils kidnapped from St Mary’s Catholic School in Papiri, Niger State, had regained their freedom through a military and intelligence-led operation.

The disclosure was made by the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

According to him, the students were released on Sunday, November 21, and were expected to arrive in Minna on Monday, where they would be reunited with their parents ahead of the Christmas celebration.

Onanuga explained that 100 of the students had earlier been freed by the kidnappers, bringing the total number of rescued children to 230.
