The immediate past Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Retired General Christopher Musa, has reaffirmed his unwavering dedication to Nigeria, declaring that he “remains a soldier at heart” despite his retirement from active service.

Speaking during his pull-out parade held on Friday, Gen. Musa expressed pride in his years of service and emphasized that Nigeria remains a nation worth defending.

“Nigeria is a nation worth fighting for. I remain a soldier at heart and will always stand for the unity, peace, and progress of our beloved country,” he said.

The colourful ceremony, attended by top military officers, family members, and dignitaries, marked the end of an illustrious military career spanning several decades.

Gen. Musa, who served as CDS until his recent retirement, was widely praised for his leadership, professionalism, and commitment to the welfare of personnel and the fight against insecurity.

He thanked the officers and men of the Armed Forces for their dedication and urged them to remain steadfast in defending the nation’s territorial integrity.

“Our military remains one of the strongest institutions in Nigeria. I am confident that those coming after me will continue to uphold the values of discipline, courage, and loyalty,” he added.

Gen. Musa’s tenure as CDS saw intensified efforts in counter-insurgency operations and inter-agency collaboration aimed at strengthening national security.

The event concluded with a ceremonial march-past, symbolizing the formal end of his active military service but not his enduring commitment to Nigeria’s peace and unity.
