The Imo State Police Command says a Joint Security Task Force has killed several members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) during an operation in the state.
Police spokesperson, DSP Henry Okoye, confirmed the incident in a statement on Wednesday, noting that the operation involved the police, military, and operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS).
According to him, the task force successfully dislodged strongholds of the separatist group and recovered weapons. He described the raid as part of ongoing efforts to tackle insecurity and restore peace in the state.
Okoye assured residents of the command’s commitment, in collaboration with other security agencies, to “smoke out criminal elements and ensure safety of lives and property.”
