Sunday Marshall Katung, who represents Kaduna South Senatorial District, has officially declared his intention to seek re-election in the 2027 general elections.
The senator also expressed support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Uba Sani, who are both expected to contest again.
Katung made this known during a meeting in Abuja with chairmen of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from his senatorial district.
In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media and Communications, Midat Joseph, Katung said his decision to run again is to complete ongoing projects and build on his achievements in Southern Kaduna.
According to him:
“I am seeking a second term to consolidate on the gains we have made, complete ongoing initiatives, and continue to provide quality representation to our people.”
He added that his ambition aligns with the broader policies of the federal and state governments, noting that the Renewed Hope agenda of the Tinubu administration and the development plans of the Kaduna State government require experienced lawmakers for proper implementation.
Katung stressed the importance of unity within the APC and urged party stakeholders to strengthen mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.
“Unity, dedication, and strategic mobilization are necessary for the task at hand. Southern Kaduna must continue to be firmly in line with the APC in order to protect and build upon the developmental advancements already documented.”
He also reassured party leaders of his commitment to unity, inclusive governance, and long-term development across the eight local government areas in Kaduna South.
As a first-term senator, Katung has been involved in legislative activities and constituency projects aimed at improving infrastructure and social services in the region.
