At least three people have been swept away following a heavy downpour in Zaria, Kaduna State, on Thursday.
An eyewitness, Mustapha Badamasi, also known as Dan Bakano of Tudun Jukun told reporters that one body had been recovered while at least two others remain missing.
The incident occurred after hours of rainfall triggered flooding in parts of the ancient city, leaving residents in panic as water levels rose rapidly.
Local volunteers have since joined in search and rescue efforts, while community leaders are calling on authorities to provide urgent intervention to prevent further loss of lives.
The latest tragedy highlights the growing dangers of flash floods in Kaduna State, particularly in areas with poor drainage and vulnerable settlements.
