A security meeting in Katsina State was on Tuesday disrupted by suspected thugs, cutting short discussions that were meant to tackle the state’s worsening insecurity.

The meeting, convened by the Katsina Security Community Initiative, brought together stakeholders to brainstorm solutions to the persistent security challenges in the state. However, chaos erupted shortly after proceedings began, as men and youths believed to be thugs stormed the venue, forcing an abrupt end to the gathering.

The Katsina incident comes just days after a similar attack targeted former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai and former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami. Similar cases of political violence were also reported recently in Kogi and Jigawa states, raising fresh concerns about the rising trend of thuggery in political and civic engagements.

Observers warn that the growing pattern of disruptions and politically motivated attacks could further undermine efforts at addressing insecurity and fostering dialogue across troubled states.
