The National Economic Council (NEC) has approved ₦100 billion for the comprehensive rehabilitation of training institutions belonging to the police and other security agencies across the country.
The approval follows the submission of a detailed report by an ad hoc committee tasked with assessing the condition of security training facilities nationwide. The committee noted significant infrastructural decay and operational gaps that have hindered effective training and capacity development within Nigeria’s security architecture.
NEC stated that the funds will be directed toward upgrading physical infrastructure, modernizing training equipment, enhancing accommodation facilities, and improving the overall learning environment for security personnel.
The move is expected to bolster security preparedness and professional standards across agencies at a time when Nigeria continues to confront diverse security challenges.
