President Bola Tinubu has assured Nigerians that his administration will overcome terrorism and banditry across the country.
In his Eid-el-Kabir message released on Tuesday, the president admitted that attacks by what he described as “heartless terrorists and bandits” still persist in some communities. He, however, told victims of insecurity that the government has not abandoned them.
“We will ultimately defeat all the forces of evil,” Tinubu said.
The president also used the occasion to defend his administration’s economic policies. He stated that the reforms introduced over the past three years have started producing positive results. According to him, Nigeria has moved beyond a difficult economic phase.
“Just as sacrifice brings reward, I am happy that the sacrifices and efforts we have made over the past three years have yielded a more stable economy, making our country a preferred investment destination that will drive job creation and economic growth. The walk through the dark tunnel is over, and the light is here,” he said.
Tinubu pointed to recent gains in the fight against insecurity, including the killing of a wanted ISIS leader. He added that ongoing reforms in the security sector would create safer communities and open more opportunities for citizens.
The president described Eid-el-Kabir as a period that reminds Muslims and humanity at large about the importance of faith, sacrifice, compassion, unity, obedience and selflessness.
“As a nation, we are on a journey of reconstruction and renewal,” Tinubu added.
“The reforms we have undertaken are challenging but necessary to build a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria for future generations.”
He also called on Muslims to pray for peace, national unity and wisdom for leaders during the Eid celebration.
