Troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE have apprehended a suspect believed to be involved in an ആക്രമ attack on forest guards and local hunters in Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The development was revealed in a post shared on X on Friday by security analyst Zagazola Makama.
According to the post, soldiers under Sector 7 acted around 9:35 a.m. on April 23 after receiving intelligence that armed men had attacked forest guards and hunters in Gidan Waya. The assailants were said to be retreating toward the Jagindi Forest.
The troops moved swiftly to the location and began a pursuit in the direction of Ungwan Maruwa. During the operation, one suspect reportedly escaped after sighting the advancing troops and left behind his motorcycle.
Security sources disclosed that the area was later sealed off for a thorough search. During the exercise, troops recovered one AK-47 rifle, one AK-49 rifle, the abandoned motorcycle, and other items.
In a subsequent operation conducted in Gidan Waya, troops arrested a suspect identified as Ahmed Musa, who was linked to the earlier attack.
“The suspect and the recovered items are currently in military custody, while investigations are ongoing,” Makama wrote.
Security operatives have intensified efforts to apprehend other members of the group who fled the scene, as operations continue across the area.
